This is not a mistranslation. But I think it's hard to get it so I'm going to explain. "カテキョ or Katekyo" is an abbreviation of "家庭教師 or かていきょうし." But here Hizume-chan doesn't seem to know the word "カテキョ." And the bird in this scene is a lesser cuckoo(ホトトギス or Cuculus poliocephalus) which is said to chirp as Hokekyo(ホケキョ). So, for Hizume, the word Katekyo reminds her of a lesser cuckoo.
